Frequently Asked Questions
We now have an FAQ list that we hope will help
you answer some of the more common ones.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Soprano Ice Titanium hair removal systems are virtually pain-free. During treatment, you may experience a gentle warming sensation in the area being treated with some clients feeling a mild pins and needles sensation.
Is a patch test necessary?
Yes. Even if you have had laser hair removal elsewhere, it is 100% necessary to patch test before a laser hair removal treatment. The procedure allows us to check that your skin is suitable for laser hair removal and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
To ensure no adverse reactions occur, general inspection of your skin will take place and then a small patch of each body area you would like to treat will be exposed to the laser light. This provides us with the opportunity to tailor the machine’s settings to your skin type, and ensure the treatment is as comfortable as possible.
Am I suitable for laser hair removal?
Soprano Ice Titanium systems are suitable for all skin tones. They emit 3 different laser light wavelengths which means they target the widest possible range of hair colours and densities. As lasers target the brown melanin pigment within hair, ginger, pale blonde, white or grey hair will not be affected by laser hair removal treatments. Various medications and medical conditions are a barrier to treatment. Prior to your first appointment you will be sent a medical form to complete. This will be checked the day prior to your appointment and potentially save a wasted journey if there are any concerns.
We can only treat clients who are aged 18 and over.
How often will I need a laser treatment?
A minimum of 6 to 8 treatments are recommended to achieve optimum results with some stronger hair growth areas such as the face and private area possibly needing more treatments.
Facial laser hair treatments should be every 4 weeks for the first 4 treatments then every 4-6 weeks thereafter. Body laser hair removal treatments are performed every 6 weeks for the first 4 treatments then every 6-8 weeks after that.
Is it safe?
The Soprano Ice Titanium systems are some of the safest lasers on the market. Rather than delivering all the laser energy in individual high energy, painful shots offered by traditional laser systems, the applicator is passed back and forth over the area to be treated as it flashes on and off 10 times a second at a lower energy.
This allows the necessary heat to build up over a few seconds which when compared to traditional shots based systems, is virtually pain free. After treatment in rare cases, you may experience mild redness or slight sensitivity. Aloe Vera gel is excellent to calm and soothe the skin.
How should I prepare before a treatment?
Apart from shaving, avoid any other hair removal methods such as waxing, threading or hair removal creams for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment, the hair needs to be present to be affected by the laser, if hair has been pulled out, the laser will have nothing to affect.
Avoid sun exposure for 1 week and sunbeds or any kind of fake tan for 2 weeks prior to treatment. You should thoroughly shave areas to be treated or patch tested around 8 hours before your visit. Skin must be hair and stubble free for the laser to be operated safely.
What about aftercare?
For 48 hours after the laser treatment avoid any additional heat such as hot baths or showers, saunas, steam rooms or vigorous exercise. Avoid sun exposure for 1 week after treatment and avoid sunbeds throughout your treatment course. Avoid swimming for about 48 hours as the chemicals in the water may cause skin irritation.
How permanent is laser hair removal?
The vast majority of patients will see around a 60-90% long term reduction in hair from a course of 6 treatments. More treatments will usually result in more hair reduction.
Who is laser hair removal for?
Laser hair removal treatment is suitable for people aged 18 or over. We treat men and Laser hair removal works best on dark blonde, brown and black hair. It is not effective on white or ginger hair.

Soprano ICE lasers feature a sapphire cooling tip to rapidly cool the skin during treatment, ensuring client comfort and safety while targeting heat to the structures that actually create hair.
This type of cooling is by far the most efficient method of protecting the skin compared to the cryogen or cooled air systems used on other types of lasers.
